Mobile System Switch: My Move to the Xiaomi 15T Pro
It’s been about three weeks since I made a pretty big change to my mobile setup. After a long time with the iPhone 15, I took the plunge and switched to the Xiaomi 15T Pro.
Why the switch? And was it worth it? That’s what this short post is all about.
Why the iPhone 15 Had to Go
I’m certainly no smartphone expert comparing benchmarks, nor am I a professional photographer making a living from my shots. But I am a passionate hobby photographer. And that’s exactly where the problem lay.
My iPhone 15 was a solid device, but two things increasingly limited me in my day-to-day life:
- Storage space: With 256 GB, I simply hit my limits too quickly. Photos, videos, apps—the storage was constantly full.
- The missing telephoto lens: This was another major reason for me. Anyone who enjoys photography knows how important focal lengths are. Without a real telephoto lens, I often lacked the ability to capture details or achieve specific compositions without using digital zoom and losing quality.
My First Impressions of the Xiaomi 15T Pro
Now, after three weeks with the Xiaomi 15T Pro, I can say: Photography is really fun again. The storage is generous, but above all, the camera setup gives me back the freedom I was missing.
I’ve gone on a few photo walks over the last few days to test out the new camera system. For me, it’s not about technical perfection, but about capturing moods and being creative.
Video & Photo Impressions
For those who prefer to watch this in video format, I’ve uploaded a video to YouTube. There, I talk a bit more about the background and show the device in action:

But pictures speak louder than words. Here are some of my first “shots” with the new smartphone. I’m excited to hear your thoughts!
I’ll continue to use the device intensively over the coming weeks and will surely share a few more photos here.
Until then, good light!
