Our annual Spring Festival trip this year takes us to Wuzhen. The small town is known for its “water village”, which is now a popular tourist destination. We immediately tried out our new car, although you can also go by train. Of course, the place is very popular and there are many tourists, but you can still find a few corners where you can enjoy some peace and quiet.
Despite the many tourists, the place is very interesting and worth a visit. There are also some exceptional hotels and hostels here. It is worth researching a little more carefully where to stay.

The Wuzhen Scenic Area is a historical and cultural tourist destination located in the town of Wuzhen, in the province of Zhejiang, China. It is known for its well-preserved ancient residential houses, stone bridges, and canals, which date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. The area is divided into three parts: the Eastern District, the Western District, and the Xizha Scenic Area.
The Eastern District is the most developed and tourist-friendly area, featuring traditional Chinese architecture, shops, and restaurants. Visitors can take a boat tour along the canals to see the ancient houses and bridges. The Western District is more rustic and less developed, providing a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the town’s residents. The Xizha Scenic Area is a more tranquil and natural area, featuring a lake, gardens, and a traditional theater.
Wuzhen is also known for its traditional crafts, including silk weaving, paper-making, and woodcarving. Visitors can watch demonstrations of these crafts and purchase souvenirs.
The Wuzhen Scenic Area is a popular tourist destination and receives millions of visitors each year. It is easily accessible by train or bus from nearby cities such as Shanghai and Hangzhou.
