Zibo is one of the typical industrial cities in China. With about 4.5 million inhabitants, a “smaller” city that probably no one in the West knows. The neighboring city of Quingdao, on the coast, may be familiar to Germans, as this city was a former German colony of Germany.
Today we were in the old center of the city, Zhoucun. Zhoucun was originally one of the starting points of the former Silk Road, which extended to Europe. One of the export items were silk fabrics, which you can still see in the museum here. Unfortunately, not much is left of the Zhoucun and the small stores have already occupied everything and do business with tourists here.
